The Impact of Summer experience at HIS
Summer break can leave many students without the consistent positive reinforcements that are necessary for them to maintain their growth—mentally, academically, physically, and spiritually. Through Summer Experience at Holbrook Indian School (HIS), we are able to provide a safe space for students to continue the momentum of their progress while maintaining access to resources that are vital to assisting them in breaking generational cycles.
Summer Experience allows students to work on campus, attend camp meeting, or attend summer camp—often for the very first time. It also allows staff to check in on students who have chosen to stay at home for the summer.
Would you join us in providing a safe, productive, and unforgettable summer experience for HIS students?
What our Students say
“Participating in the program was the best choice I made for my summer break.”
—Adrienna, HIS alumna
“It was fun zip lining… I also liked the swimming camp because I learned how to dive. It was my very first time to dive. I also got to hang out with my sister and Lyndon [a friend]. It was fun during summer camp.”
—Katelyyn, 8th grade
Katelynn attended both camp meeting and summer camp during SEP
“I liked planting seeds in the garden and pulling weeds. It’s so fun to watch the weeds get removed.” Regarding her time at teen camp, she said, “[I liked] being with friends and just experiencing it; being able to go and do different things like swimming, the zip line, [see] the animals.”
—Kyndra, 8th Grade
Kyndra was a student worker and attended summer camp during SEP
